To Invite The RMO To An Event Or Action:

We love to play events that support feminism and women’s rights, the queer community, labor, the environment, social and economic justice, peace and community self-determination. Please read The RudeMo Rules of Engagement first, and then email us a description of the event or action.
You should be aware that our schedule is very tight, our members are very busy people and we simply cannot make every event. If we can’t do it, please don’t take that as a dis of your group or your cause.
Also, we generally need at least two weeks advance notice (more is better, and increases the chance that we can do it) to make a collective decision and make sure that enough RMO players can make it. Please make sure to include the following information (note that not having some of the things mentioned below does not mean that we can’t or won’t play the event):

1. Who is organizing the event/action (w/ contact info) and what is the group’s mission and history?

2. What are the event’s logistics (time, place, venue, etc.)?

3. By what date do you need a commitment from us?

4. What is the cause being advanced and/or the purpose of the event?

5. What would RMO’s role be at the event? Will other musical groups be playing? Will there be any amplified sound (for helping to lead people in chants)?

6. If this is a benefit, how much of the funds raised will go to the intended recipient (i.e., percent, door money, bar money)? What expenses have to be covered from the funds raised (e.g., paying staff)?

7. Who are the sponsors of the event?

8. Legal issues: Will there be planned arrests or direct action? What is the chance of unplanned arrests? Has a permit been obtained? Have the organizers communicated with the police in advance?

9. What is the role and leadership of people of color, queer/LGBT people, women, youth, or other marginalized groups in connection with the event?

10. Will there be a secure place to store instrument cases, or if a parade or march, will there be vehicle to store instrument cases?

11. Is there money to pay the band (again, this won’t necessarily disqualify your event, but hey, we gotta ask)?
Will there be provisions (water, beer, food) for the band?

12. How many people do you expect to come and how is this event being advertised? (We’ll want copies of the flyer/online announcement to help us cross-promote the event if we decide to play.)

13. How do you know us? Where did you see us or hear about us?

To invite the RMO to your event, please include as much of the above information as possible and email us at rmo@riseup.net

SW4BC has been a wonderful success story for SRLP: in the past 6 years, over 50 organizing host committee members and more than 200 progressive, transgressive, and cutting-edge artists have generously donated over 300 visionary works of art! This vibrant annual celebration reflects the radical spirit of SRLP, as well as the experimental energy of some of New York's most innovative established and emerging contemporary artists. 100 of the event's proceeds will benefit SRLP's crucial work for gender self-determination. The event is free to the public, and will include a silent auction with affordable price points beginning at $10, featuring photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, textile pieces and mixed media installations.
