Stay tuned…Private detailsDate, Time, and Location:Sunday, April 27, 3p., bands starting at various points in ProspectPark, ending by the fountain in Grand Army PlazaContact: BrunoSo this is the annual event we have done with HMB and the Himalayas and What Cheer for the past two years. We will have future concept discussions about how exactly we want to participate (i.e bring a little political edge to the marriage theme) but in general, this is just a silly rockin’ good time with our fellow marching bands and promises to be a hoot and a half.Folly Day 2008: Courting Disaster [a reference to the wedding theme*and* a contribution to the developing Follitarian cosmology, Disasterbeing an omnipresent force in the world even over and above our dearSaint Folly] Structure:Organized as a kind of band vs. band scavenger hunt and fight to steal(sorry, “borrow”) other bands’ members. The whole event this year hasa wedding theme, so the scavenger hunt is going to be organized aroundbands having to hunt down things that are old, new, borrowed, andblue. The “old,” “new,” and “blue” parts are going to be how we tellparticipants (audience) to dress (yes?), and bands will fight (musically andchicanerily) for an entourage with as many of each as possible. The”borrowed” part will be in the form of bands “borrowing” members ofother bands. This will be done by putting the kidnapping band’s sashon the kidnapped member of the other band. (Oh, bands will have tomake sashes then, eh.) Bribes in the form of liquor and, I dunno,valve oil may make people more amenable to being borrowed. (Just anafterthought.)The wedding part will happen at the fountain in the traffic circle atGrand Army Plaza where we’ll all get married to each other as a biggroup.
