Rich Man's House

Here is RMO's rendition of Rich Man's House as part of a Poor People's Campaign (PPC) song challenge.

Note: the intro in the sheet music was cut from the final version of the video.

Rich Man's House is a Poor People's Campaign song. It was written by poor families of the Kensington Welfare Rights Union during the New Freedom Bus Tour in 1998. This song has been sung at state capitals, eviction defense actions, mass meetings, bus tours, and in homeless encampments to lift up dispossessed people who are organizing to take back their dignity and humanity. It is a symbol for the capitalist system that deals death at the hands of poverty, systemic racism, militarism, and ecological devastation. We perform this song to boldly organize through a movement that ensures our communities’ well-being and resists the lies of scarcity and austerity. We seek to forward the mission to end homelessness and poverty by achieving economic and social justice and universal human rights, building upon the revolutionary work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
